Erfurt (dpa/th) – At the end of last year, 5780 students at the five Thuringian universities sought a doctorate. Compared to the previous year, this is 111 more doctoral students, the State Office for Statistics announced on Wednesday in Erfurt. According to the information, almost half of the doctoral students were women.
Almost 4,000 of the students were striving for their doctorate at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena. There were a good 750 at the Technical University of Ilmenau, a good 600 at the Bauhaus University in Weimar and around 460 at the University of Erfurt. Most doctoral students were in the mathematics and natural sciences subject group. But there were also numerous doctoral students in medicine and engineering.
