It’s been a little over a year since Ralf Dümmel hit the “Flüwa” start-up in “Die Höhle der Löwen”. But his joint success story with the founder Karlheinz Voll does not last long. The inventor of the “winged spirit level” died at the age of 69.
Ralf Dümmel mourns the death of “Flüwa” founder Karlheinz Voll. In April 2021, the master mason and civil engineer presented his invention of a “spirit level with wings” in “The Lion’s Den”. Ralf Dümmel was enthusiastic about the idea and made a deal with the entrepreneur. He provided 60,000 euros for the further development of the project.
Now “dear Karlheinz has unfortunately passed away,” writes Dümmel in an emotional post on Instagram, which he found very “difficult”. Voll inspired him “as an entrepreneur”. “But it’s much more important that I was able to get to know such a special person and that I gained a friend in life,” explains Dümmel. His thoughts are with Voll’s family and wish them “a lot of strength”.
With loving words, Dümmel closes his post: “Take care, Karlheinz, thank you for the many great moments together, I will never forget you.” He also shared a black and white photo in which he poses with the founder and his invention in front of a “Lion’s Den” poster.
According to various media reports, the “Flüwa” founder was 69 years old. According to the “Bild” newspaper, Voll was already suffering from cancer when he presented his invention on the Vox show. However, this did not stop him from fighting for his start-up. However, he has now lost his battle with cancer.
But his “spirit level with wings” has prevailed. The tool, which is a classic spirit level with an additional integrated joint, has found its way into hardware stores – and is said to have sold out there quickly.
