Kronberg im Taunus (dpa/lhe) – An unsuccessful exterminator operation triggered a roof truss fire on a family home in Kronberg im Taunus, causing a great deal of property damage. According to initial findings, the fire was caused by the improper removal of a wasp nest using a “smoking method”, the police said on Monday evening. As a result, the entire roof structure of the house in the Schönberg district caught fire, and the fire then spread. Overall, property damage was between 150,000 and 300,000 euros.
The fire brigade’s forces had to partially cover and saw the roof on Monday, as it was said. The entire upper level was destroyed by the fire, and the extinguishing water also caused damage to major parts of the house.
According to the police, two emergency services had to be treated on site for circulatory problems, and one woman suffered minor burn injuries.
