Lena Meyer-Landrut is already in the public eye at the age of 18. At that time she applied in a casting show to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest, which she later won. By then, in May 2010 at the latest, anonymous life would be over – even on vacation.

In the web show “World Wide Living Room”, the singer recently told her worst Mallorca anecdote. “It was really the worst flight of my life. I was alone on the return flight from Mallorca in 2019 and the entire plane, when it recognized me, sang “Lena Meyer-Landrut, oh oh oh oh oh” for an hour and a half”. You just let it go at the time.

How does the former ESC winner choose her holiday destinations today? “I tend to try to find places that aren’t that crowded. For example, I wouldn’t go to Rimini on the beach, but rather to more hidden places where there are a lot of locals and not that many tourists,” she told the Deutsche Presse- Agency. “Germans like to travel to well-known places. In the more hidden places there are often more French, Belgians or Dutch people.”

You are now dealing with the holiday situation in a relaxed manner. “The job brings so many positive aspects and I don’t have to worry about so many things. It’s okay to think a little more about other things.” Pietro Lombardi also knows life in public. The now 30-year-old won the RTL casting show “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” at the age of 18. Enjoy a quiet holiday? “That’s not possible. Germans are all over the world. But I’m relaxed about it. I’ve grown up so much. It’s no longer a problem for me if people recognize me.” Nevertheless: When asked about his favorite holiday destination in summer, Lombardi replies: “At home”.

While Meyer-Landrut, Lombardi and other German celebrities can mingle with international guests at least unrecognized, things are different with world stars like Brad Pitt. There probably aren’t too many people on the planet who wouldn’t recognize the two-time Academy Award winner.

“I already have a few tricks,” Pitt said in a dpa interview. He looks down at the floor or to the side. But: “What I’m feeling more and more: People don’t care. They don’t care.” In Japan, for example, people are “super cool”.

Actor and “Looking For Freedom” singer David Hasselhoff can hardly save himself from fans and photographers on vacation. However, the past two years have played into the entertainer’s hands. “When I was out and about with a mask, sunglasses and hat during the corona pandemic, it was great. I could go anywhere. Now when I take off my mask and hat, people go crazy. Then I just put them back on.”
