The singer and actress Shonka Dukureh, known from the film “Elvis”, was found dead in her apartment in Nashville, Tennessee. There is no evidence of a crime, police said. The results of an autopsy are still pending. Dukureh was 44 years old.
She played blues singer Big Mama Thornton in Baz Luhrmann’s biopic about the life of music legend Elvis Presley, while Austin Butler played Elvis and Tom Hanks as his manager. Dukureh also performed with rapper Doja Cat at the Coachella music festival in California earlier this year.
According to the police, one of their two children found Dukureh motionless in the shared apartment on Thursday morning and then went to a neighbor who dialed 911.
