Augsburg (dpa / lby) – A grain field near Augsburg burned on Thursday night. The glow of the fire on the partially harvested field, which was about the size of around ten football pitches, could be seen for kilometers, said the Augsburg fire brigade. Around 70 firefighters were deployed with 14 vehicles. The extinguishing work lasted from around 11:00 p.m. to after 1:00 a.m. Subsequently, farmers from the area cut aisles in the field to protect against fires that might flare up again. No one was injured, and nothing was initially known about the extent of the damage.
