Halle (dpa/sa) – A model project for language support for Ukrainians in the health sector is starting in Saxony-Anhalt. Several interpreters for Ukrainian and Russian are now available in Halle and Magdeburg to facilitate communication between doctors and patients, as the state network of migrant organizations in Saxony-Anhalt announced on Monday.
The model project is an important step on the way to barrier-free access to the health system, said the state government’s integration officer and state secretary in the health ministry, Susi Möbbeck. The ministry supports the project. In addition, a nationwide pool of qualified interpreters on a fee basis is to be established.
