Seewald (dpa / lsw) – A wolf killed six sheep and injured two in the northern Black Forest municipality of Seewald. A genetic examination of swab samples confirmed the suspicion, the Ministry of the Environment announced on Monday in Stuttgart. Accordingly, the wolf is a male with the designation GW852m. “The livestock associations and the wildlife officers in the region have been informed of the situation,” the ministry said.
Seewald in the district of Freudenstadt is located in the so-called wolf prevention support area in the Black Forest, where two other wolf males are reported to have settled in addition to GW852m. Within such a development area, the state financially supports animal owners in the purchase and maintenance of pasture fences and livestock guardian dogs.
