Two years late, Lady Gaga finally starts her European tour on Sunday evening. In the sold-out hall in Düsseldorf, the singer emphasizes how much she missed her fans and the stage. Luckily, her fears of never being able to perform again were unfounded.
At the start of her world tour in Düsseldorf, Lady Gaga revealed to her fans how much she longed for them. “I missed you guys so much,” the pop singer said to the crowd on Sunday night. “There was a long time when I didn’t know if I would ever go on tour again,” admitted the 36-year-old. Her fans would have taught her courage and self-love. This is how she remembered the color in her life.
Tens of thousands of fans traveled to the sold-out concert in the Merkur Spiel-Arena. The “The Chromatica Ball” tour had been postponed twice due to the corona pandemic. In addition to the newer songs from 2020, Gaga also performed many old hits on Sunday to the delight of the audience. With the classics “Bad Romance”, “Just Dance” and “Poker Face” people with seats jumped up to dance along at the beginning of the show.
The US singer breathed more life into the somewhat gloomy stage set made of gray concrete blocks with each song – through powerful sounds, wild dance routines and rapid outfit changes. For the song “Babylon” she shone in a golden suit, later she wore a shiny metallic one-piece suit. During the song “Sour Candy”, the arena lit up with a purple light. To “Telephone” high fire fountains shot over the audience.
“Düsseldorf! Germany! Thank you!” Gaga called out to the crowd. It was not only the first, but also the only appearance of Gaga’s concert tour in Germany. The American will be performing in 17 other cities around the world by mid-September. Stops are planned in Paris, Tokyo and New York. Lady Gaga had her last appearance in Germany in Hamburg in 2018.
