It’s getting hot in Bavaria. A weather that is not without problems. For plants and animals that thirst for water, but also for many people who are bothered by the heat.

Munich (dpa / lby) – Bavaria is heading for the hottest days of the year so far. On the Untermain, the thermometer could even climb up to 38 degrees on Tuesday. In other parts of the country it will also be very hot in many places from Monday with values ????over 30 degrees, said Dominik Smieskol from the German Weather Service (DWD) in Munich. This is a joy for bathers and sunbathers, for others it is torture and sometimes even a danger. “Dizziness, nausea, headaches and cardiovascular disorders are typical symptoms when it is very hot,” warned Bavaria’s Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU).

According to Smieskol, the feared extreme heat will not occur in Bavaria in the coming days. It will probably not be enough for records of 40 degrees, even if the temperatures could come close to this mark. According to the DWD, the heat wave is only heading towards a peak in the west on Tuesday and then in the east of Bavaria on Wednesday. But it should stay hot everywhere.

The Ministry has compiled tips on the Internet on how to survive the heat, for example by darkening the apartment. Also important: drinking a lot, but not necessarily the ice-cold cola: “On hot days, the following applies: In general, the liquid should be neither very cold nor very hot.” When eating, light food makes sense, such as salads, vegetables or fruit that contain a lot of water. And everything, just don’t stress. “If possible, take a midday rest.”

Many hope to cool down in the swimming pool or by bathing in a lake. But that is not advisable everywhere. In northern Bavaria, for example, some lakes were closed for bathing due to an accumulation of blue-green algae, such as the quarry lake in Ebing (Bamberg district), the small dozen pond in Nuremberg, the Goldbergsee in Coburg or a bathing area in the Altmühlsee in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district. Blue-green algae can form in water when it is very hot when the nutrient content is high, for example because faeces from sewage treatment plants or artificial fertilizers from agriculture are washed in.

And rain? With a bit of luck, in some areas it may fall as early as Wednesday morning, in other places only on Thursday. The DWD reports that the tendency to thunderstorms is increasing, especially in the west and in the Alps. There could be showery rain with thunderstorms on Thursday night, with overnight lows of up to 15 degrees. But it shouldn’t be wet and cold yet. Smieskol speaks of a relatively constant high pressure and temperatures around 30 degrees.
