Mahring (dpa / lby) – A driver left the road in the Upper Palatinate and crashed into a tree, which then fell on the roof of the car. The 20-year-old suffered serious injuries, police said on Sunday. The young man had gotten his car off a road near Maehring (Tirschenreuth district) on Saturday due to unexplained circumstances and then crashed into a woodpile and the tree. The tree fell on the man’s car, trapping him in his vehicle. The 20-year-old had to be freed by rescue workers and was then taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
