Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) – Hesse’s Prime Minister Boris Rhein sees the move of the “Ball des Sports” next year from Wiesbaden to Frankfurt. “For me it’s important that the ball stays in Hesse,” said the CDU politician on Saturday at the 51st edition of the charity event organized by the German Sports Aid Foundation in the Hessian state capital.
The city’s decision not to host the ball in the future must be accepted politically. However, he could not understand them. “I think it was the wrong decision for Wiesbaden. Now the people of Frankfurt are benefiting from it and have to make the best of it. I trust the city,” said the 50-year-old. Rhein described the whereabouts of the ball in the region as a “commitment by Sporthilfe to Hessen as a sports location”.
