Ravensburg (dpa / lsw) – Due to high inflation and massive increases in energy costs, many households in the south-west will slip into over-indebtedness, according to bailiffs. “If natural gas prices rise eightfold and people were already living at the subsistence level, it will be very difficult for many. We are already noticing that,” said Manuel Schunger, the state chairman of the German Bailiff Association, the “Schwäbische Zeitung” (Monday). “There will be a big bang if government aid doesn’t come – at the latest when the next utility bill is billed.” Debtors are already coming who can no longer pay their monthly installments of 40 euros, said Schunger.
