Sömmerda (dpa/th) – A woman from Sömmerda fell for a supposed police officer on the phone and lost a coin collection. A caller posed as a police officer and explained to the mother that her 13-year-old son was driving a car and causing a serious accident that left one dead, police reported on Friday about Friday’s incident. The boy was in custody at the Erfurt public prosecutor’s office and could be released on bail of 50,000 euros.

The worried mother agreed to the payment, but did not have the requested amount. The caller then explained to the 54-year-old that she could also deposit valuables as a deposit. According to the information, the woman then went to Erfurt and handed over a coin collection from the family inheritance worth around 20,000 euros to an unknown man in front of the district court. It wasn’t until her son came back from school unharmed and unsuspecting that the woman realized she had been scammed.
