Erfurt (dpa/th) – The state student representative has complained about the sluggish digitization of Thuringian schools. Lotta Moraweck, spokeswoman for the state school, criticized that there is still no WiFi available for students in many schools or the network is overloaded. The student representatives met on Saturday in Erfurt for their state student day. In addition, there is a lack of sufficient tablet class sets in many places.

Although there are also good examples of digital teaching in the Free State, this is not the rule. “Most teachers are overwhelmed themselves,” said Moraweck. There is a lack of administrators, uniform regulations and clear usage concepts. “The teachers have to be picked up with further training so that they know how to deal with it.”

Another problem, according to the state student representative, is the ongoing drop in classes in Thuringia. “There is a far too great shortage of teachers and as a result there are regular cuts in hours at every school,” said Moraweck. Lessons in the natural sciences were missed most frequently.

In addition, the student representatives spoke out in favor of combining the talent subjects music, sports and art into one grade. Not all students have talents in each of these subjects.
