Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – Because of a bacterial infestation, the Neustädter See lido in Magdeburg has been closed as bathing water. The Magdeburg city administration announced on Friday that a sample had found that the level of enterococci was too high. Enterococci are bacteria that are found in the normal intestinal flora of both animals and humans. However, the intestinal bacteria can cause serious diseases in immunocompromised people. According to the city administration, it is still unclear why the value in the sample is so high.
