This is some surprising information Christophe Lemaitre just shared on social media.
The 4x100m Trinidad and Tobago team has just won its gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. This was after Jamaica’s disqualification for Nesta Carter doping in 2017. However, the Savoyard sprinter disclosed that the tricolor relay was still waiting for its bronze medal from London 2012.
After positive control by American Tyson Gay, the French 4x100m team (which included Lemaitre, Jimmy Vicaut, Jimmy Vicaut, and Ronald Pognon), had regained 3rd place.
The Tricolores received their medal at the Stade de France. They had to return it in stride… but are still waiting to see it!
Following the Trinidad and Tobago caselaw, they should receive it within four years…in 2026.
