Nicki Minaj’s husband was sentenced to one year in home detention after he failed to register as a sexual offender.

Kenneth Petty was required by authorities to notify authorities about his 1995 attempted rape conviction.

The 44-year old admitted that he didn’t do this when Nicki Minaj and he moved to California in 2019.

According to the US Attorney’s Office, he was sentenced and fined $55,000 (PS46,000).

US law gives registered sex offenders five days to correct their information if their address changes.

Petty had previously pleaded guilty to this charge at a 2020 court appearance but changed his plea in September.

Prosecutors stated that house arrest is not difficult enough and asked the judge to grant Petty more time in prison.

Nicki Minaj uploaded a photo on Instagram showing her husband and son just hours after the sentencing.

Petty started dating the rapper in 2018 after they reportedly knew each other since childhood.

They were married a year later and now have a son.

Due to Nicki’s criminal past, their relationship has been controversial. Nicki defends her partner from criticism.

The woman who he attempted to rape convicted him of wassuing the couple in August 2021.

She filed a lawsuit alleging harassment by the couple to get her to give up her rights.
