Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – A woman (18) who had set fire to two patrol cars and two other cars in Düsseldorf has been taken into custody. As a spokeswoman for the public prosecutor’s office said on Thursday, the regulatory office had first checked whether the woman should be admitted to a psychiatric clinic. Ultimately, there was no reason for this – which is why the 18-year-old was taken into custody for attempted and completed arson. There does not seem to be a political motive.
According to the investigation, the 18-year-old, known to the police for similar incidents, set fire to two patrol cars in front of the Düsseldorf Altstadtwache and two private cars in front of the neighboring public prosecutor’s office on Monday afternoon. The fires were quickly extinguished. Police found the woman near the crime scene. According to their own statements, the investigators assume that the woman randomly selected the cars at the public prosecutor’s office. The 18-year-old has not yet said why she set fire to the patrol car. Police believe there was no political motive.
