Bayreuth (dpa / lby) – Three young people from a school group from France complained about circulatory problems when visiting the Teufelshöhle in Pottenstein and had to be treated by a doctor. In the afternoon, the cave staff informed the rescue workers, said the spokesman for the Bayreuth district association of the Bavarian Red Cross on Tuesday. Accordingly, in addition to two ambulances, an emergency doctor and the operations manager of the Püttlachtal mountain rescue service and four helpers from the Pottenstein mountain rescue service were deployed.

The mountain rescue service was called to action because it was initially not clear whether a rescue from the cave would be necessary. According to the information, the rescuers, who specialize in operations in rough terrain and caves, met the students at the entrance to the cave in the Bayreuth district. Two of the three students, around the age of 15, were examined by the emergency doctor and then taken to a hospital as a precaution. Further information on the health of the young French was initially not available.
