Augsburg (dpa / lby) – Three martens paralyzed an elevator in a house in Augsburg, triggering a fire brigade operation. The building’s caretaker saw one of the animals disappear into the elevator shaft on Monday after calling maintenance about the defect, the fire department said. The emergency services caught the animal hanging on a guide rail with a net and were about to drive away again when a second marten was discovered. After a long search, they also caught this animal – this time at the bottom of the elevator shaft.
According to a spokesman, the fire brigade then made their way back – only to drive back to the house later because a third marten was seen in the elevator shaft. “The elevator fitter did a test drive in the cabin and was suddenly eye to eye with the animal,” said the fire department spokesman. The fire brigade came again, again they caught the animal with a net.
The apparently uninjured marten trio ended up being examined by the veterinarian, said the fire brigade spokesman. “We’ve seen a lot, but we’ve never had anything like it.”
