Olivier Amrane added a layer. It was quick to get a response from CGT. Friday, June 17th, saw a protest by social workers at the Hotel du Departement. This disrupted the departmental council. Saturday, June 25, President LR Oliver Amrane, in our columns, denounced among other things “the form chosen” by demonstrators.
CGT, the union organizer for the demonstration, issued a press statement. “The president appears to be unaware that family assistants are full-time staff of Department; that he doesn’t respect social dialogue by only discussing two of three representative organizations of staff of departmental council staff; that he maintains tension by refusing to receive his staff despite his elected officials’ promises and that he does NOT want to calm the situation.”
The union’s president and executive have the responsibility to revive social dialogue and “seek out solutions to improve working and salary conditions for all agents” and restore the Department’s image. Demonstrators had chosen the date of demonstration, the day of the county council. They claim that this was the only way they could approach the president.
Concerning Olivier Amrane’s complaint against a protester: The CGT warns that “when a CGT activist gets attacked, it is all CGT that we attack!”
