The promise of Saturday’s 2nd stage Tour de France was kept when the Great Belt bridge was crossed. Yves Lampaert, the yellow jersey, and a few others were disappointed. While the peloton was riding at high speeds and in a compact manner to protect themselves against the wind, a rider from EF Education fell, dragging part the peloton, including Lampaert (DSM), Alberto Dainese, and Michael Morkov, (Quick-Step).
The yellow jersey, the winner of Friday’s inaugural time trial, managed to get back on the bike and catch up with the peloton, albeit at a great effort. He was only 18 seconds behind the leader.
