The number of new corona infections has recently increased again. Nevertheless, the state government has abolished the FFP2 mask requirement on buses and trains. In the future, the medical mask will suffice again.
Munich (dpa / lby) – As of now, FFP2 masks are no longer compulsory in local public transport in Bavaria. Only a medical mask is mandatory. The new regulation went into effect at midnight.
“The mask requirement in public transport remains in place because it is important as protection in view of the current infection rate,” explained Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU). But now everyone can “decide according to their own assessment and risk assessment whether to wear a surgical mask instead of an FFP2 mask”.
“We are relying more on the individual responsibility of the citizens,” said Holetschek. “In the hot summer months we are experiencing now and under the current pandemic conditions, we think this is proportionate.” The cabinet had decided on the corresponding change in the Corona Ordinance on Tuesday.
