A 43-year old man was found unconscious on a street corner with severe injuries and died.
After police responded to an alleged attack on Monnow Street in Monmouth at 01:15 BST Sunday 26 June, the man from Poole, Dorset was located.
Three men from Monmouth were arrested by Gwent Police on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting another man.
One was held in custody at the age of 19, while another was released on bail at the age of 19. One 21-year old was released on bail without being charged.
Det Supt Nicholas Wilkie stated that the relatives of the deceased man were being supported and assisted by specialists officers.
