The fortunes of Arnish, a Lewis fabrication yard in the Western Isles, are documented in a new BBC documentary. It was established in 1974 during a period when traditional industries such as fishing and weaving were in decline. Callum Macleod, a former employee, said that it was like winning the lottery. But tough times followed in the 1980s and 1990s. Arnish has been taken over by new owners and is currently working on renewable energy projects.
Trusadh will show Arnish on BBC Alba starting at 21:00 on July 4, and it will also be available on iPlayer.
