Munich (dpa / lby) – At least 46 monuments and street names in Munich are problematic, according to the culture officer Anton Biebel. “There is a so-called “shortlist” with 46 names with an acute need for action,” he told the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” (Friday edition). The Institute for City History and Remembrance Work is now part of his department. “So we now have the issue of street renaming and the issue of polluted monuments with us.” Street names in particular are often the subject of criticism – not only in Munich, but also in other cities. In many cases it is about the behavior of the namesake in the time of National Socialism.
