Dresden (dpa / sn) – The exhibition “Unlocked!” will cover a wide arc in the New Green Vault Dresden until September: from the first key handover for princely collections to the online collection of the State Art Collections (SKD), with which they grant digital access to their objects. The starting point is the appointment of the first art treasurer in 1572 by the elector, which made the ruler’s previously private collection an institution and accessible to visitors. This was announced by the SKD at the opening on Friday.

A total of 14 exhibits tell key stories from Dresden’s treasure chambers. These include a finely decorated box, which, according to the information, probably came to Dresden as a gift from Tsar Peter the Great, as well as an iron chest that fascinates with its sophisticated locking mechanism. There are also valuable keys or a curious porcelain vessel in the shape of a key, the contents of which guests had to drink when they visited the porcelain manufactory. The range extends to contemporary art. Information about the objects is available via QR code on the smartphone.
