Dresden (dpa / sn) – The AfD parliamentary group in the Saxon state parliament wants a commission of inquiry on medical care in the country. “Even today, 30 percent of the practicing doctors in Saxony are over 60 years old. 423 contract doctor seats are already empty because no successor could be found,” said MP Frank Schaufel on Tuesday in Dresden. There is a risk of undersupply. He accused the government of doing too little to ensure outpatient care in rural areas.

“The aim must be to increase the attractiveness of rural regions for doctors. This includes a better compatibility of work and family through municipal care centers,” emphasized Schaufel. In addition, excessive bureaucracy must be reduced and digital treatment options introduced. The recovery of doctors who have migrated and more study places are also necessary.
