Apparently everything you can get your hands on is used in a mass brawl in Essen. The police speak of furniture and crockery, but also knives and sticks. Furniture is also used in a mass brawl in Worms.
Several hundred people took part in a mass brawl in Essen. The police said there were apparently “severe physical attacks” on Saturday evening. A 30-year-old was seriously injured, probably by a stabbing weapon. At least two other people were slightly injured in the clash in the Altendorf district.
In the area between Helenenstraße and Siemensstraße, there were serious physical attacks between those involved – who used furniture and dishes, but also knives and sticks, among other things. The seriously injured man was taken to hospital by ambulance. One of the two slightly injured was already wanted by the police because of a robbery. The man was in outpatient medical treatment and would then be arrested, the investigators said.
There are first indications that a dispute between Arab, Syrian or Turkish extended families has escalated, the police said.
In the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Worms, there are also violent attacks between several people who also use furniture. Around 15 to 20 people with chairs, table legs and belts attacked each other in the city center early Sunday morning, police said. At least four people were injured. When the first patrol arrived, most of those involved fled in an unknown direction. The exact background was initially unclear.
