Roman Gottschalk and his famous father, Thomas Gottschalk, have a lot in common. And the son is also pleased about his new happiness in love. At first, the separation of the parents was a “shock”. He also reveals how his mother is doing.

Roman Gottschalk, the son of “Wetten, dass..?” moderator Thomas Gottschalk, chats from the patchwork family sewing box. In a double interview with the “Bild” newspaper, he revealed what he thinks of his father’s new love, Karina Mroß.

“Dad is happy, that makes me happy,” he says. The entertainer’s son, who lives in the USA, also admits: “Of course, the separation of my parents was a shock at first.” And then he reveals how his mother, Thomas Gottschalk’s longtime wife, Thea Gottschalk, is doing: “My mother is doing well too and I see her more often than before,” says Roman.

Son and father keep their connection intact even across the pond: “I often visit my dad since he has been living in Germany again. I want to maintain our close relationship,” says Roman, who is now the father of a little boy himself. And apparently Thomas Gottschalk did some things right as a father, because Roman continues: “I raise my little son the way I was raised. Dad is my role model. I know that I can talk to him about everything.”

Thomas Gottschalk’s memories flashes of how communal one can imagine the former coexistence in the USA: “We moved to America when Roman was 15. There were a few children of stars at his private school, that wasn’t anything special, for me it was there Nobody cares. It was important to Roman that we went to basketball, went on trips.”

The separation from Thea Gottschalk became known in 2019 and was immediately confirmed by Thomas Gottschalk. The two met in 1972 and married in 1976. They have lived together since the early 1990s with their two sons – Roman and 33-year-old Tristan – in a house in Malibu, California. Today Gottschalk is in a relationship with SWR employee Karina Mroß. Gottschalk recently announced that he did not regret the divorce for a single day.
