Nanterre court sentenced a police officer from DGSI to a six month suspended sentence for driving drunk and under the effects of drugs in the company car of his friend at the time, who was then prefect.
The General Directorate of Internal Security arrested the 46-year-old agent on November 17, 2020. He had crossed the Hauts-de-Seine region, west of Paris, and caused several accidents between Rueil-Malmaison and Neuilly. His blood alcohol content was 1.92 grams per Liter of blood. His vehicle was found at the Eure-et-Loir prefecture.
I lost my footing
He was then accompanied by his prefect, who had given him the vehicle to use for personal travel. His body also contained cannabis and cocaine. The defendant, who was at the helm of the case, denied ever having consumed narcotics and stated that he only had CBD and drugs. He said, “I lost my feet,” and explained that he was blaming his alcoholism on family problems that had “upset him.” He apologised and said he was “bruised” by the situation that had taken on such a large magnitude.
He indicated that he was depressed and said that he had been seen by a psychiatrist. He was sentenced to a six month suspended prison sentence, a road safety awareness class and an eight-month suspension of his license for driving under the influence or while intoxicated.
As requested, the prosecution sought against him 18 months suspended imprisonment and 100 hours community service. “It is surprising that someone of your rank comes up with the same excuses that the children we see in this court,” had criticized the prosecutor. He also stated that “there was no physical damage to human beings.” Shortly after the incident, the prefect of Eure-et-Loir resigned.
