Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) – After the traditional Höchster Porzellan-Manufaktur has filed for insolvency again, the search for an investor is running at full speed. There were still a good two weeks left until the end of June, said a spokesman for the provisional insolvency administrator Frank Schmitt on Tuesday. Then the insolvency money from the employment agency would run out, with which the manufactory, founded in 1746, would have to operate “below full costs”. But this is not profitable. He could not say whether there were already interested parties for the company.
“We are doing everything we can to keep business running,” Schmitt told the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” (Monday). But the company is in an “extremely difficult situation”. The ten employees have not received any wages since mid-March.
The Höchster Porzellan-Manufaktur had to file for bankruptcy in 2018, but was then rescued by an Asian investor. This time there is less time. According to “FAZ”, Schmitt also contacted the Hessian state government. The shop in Frankfurt’s old town as well as production and factory outlets in Höchst will continue.
The Höchst Porcelain Manufactory is the second oldest in Germany after the State Porcelain Manufactory in Meissen near Dresden. At the beginning of June, the Höchster Porzellan-Manufaktur had to file for bankruptcy. “A completely new concept or the sale to an investor would be conceivable in order to avoid the imminent closure of Hesse’s only porcelain factory,” said the provisional insolvency administrator at the time.
