Herzogenrath (dpa / lnw) – During a random check in Herzogenrath on the border with the Netherlands, customs officials discovered more than five kilograms of marijuana in a car. The drugs with a street value of more than 50,000 euros were sniffed out by a sniffer dog, the main customs office in Aachen announced on Monday. The 63-year-old driver had made himself suspicious when he initially ignored the customs stop sign upon entry. When the man stopped, he said he didn’t have any drugs with him. However, the customs officers found the drugs in sealed bags with the help of the sniffer dog. Because of the large amount of drugs, the case was handed over to the customs investigation office in Essen.
