Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – Hesse’s new Minister of Justice Roman Poseck (CDU) wants to campaign for more staff in the public prosecutor’s offices and courts in the state. “I hope that we will be able to create additional jobs in the double budget for the years 2023/2024,” said Poseck of the “Frankfurter Rundschau” in the Monday edition. “But we also have to stay on the ball when it comes to recruiting young talent. We are in competition for the best minds, especially in the Rhine-Main area with large law firms.”
“The rule of law is important to me, and that includes an efficient judiciary,” emphasized the former president of the Hessian state court. “I used to work hard for that and now I’ll do my best to get more staff, and of course I’ll be judged by that now.” Poseck said he sees his primary task in creating good framework conditions for the judiciary.
The digitization of the judiciary is also a major challenge. “The electronic file must be introduced by 2026 and I am doing everything I can to achieve this goal,” announced the minister. “I’m also optimistic that we can do it, but the road to get there will be rocky at times.” It is quite possible that there will be structural changes.
“But you have to realize that the train has already traveled a long way, so that a radical reversal is difficult,” explained the former president of the Frankfurt Higher Regional Court. “From my point of view, mistakes were made on this issue many years ago. I’m a supporter of federalism, but I would have liked a nationwide approach at this point.”
