Jarry is on France Televisions to present the first night of his new show “Le Big Show”. It will air on Saturday, September 10, at 9:10 pm on France 2. This show is adapted from a British idea in which family members are forced to keep people who want to attend a show captive.
Filming was done in February at Theatre de Marigny, Paris. Laetitia Milot was a special guest. Jarry is not spared at the beginning of the show. Jarry borrows her cell phone to send a humbling message to all her contacts, or to order dozens upon an application for toilet paper.
The hidden cameras and pranks of production are a pain for the public, but it’s not just them. We chose stories we believed were most universal. Jarry explained that they wanted the stories to reach as many people as possible and that we made sure to include people from minority groups at a press conference.
The room was quickly aware that the spectators were likely to have to surprise a loved one. Jarry, for example, makes Jarry bring on stage a young lady who was being filmed during Jarry’s last karaoke while she was singing Amir’s song. Amir, a guest not chosen randomly, arrives on stage to perform his song. This puts even more pressure on Jarry before the images are broadcast. The young woman’s rendition is hilarious and it’s funny to listen to.
Jarry informs her that he brought home frozen homemade dishes and that these were the same dishes that she tried in a Michelin-starred restaurant a few days before. . She was unaware that she was being filmed trying to replicate the great cooking of a celebrity chef. Was she a victim of a scam or raved about her own cooking skills?
The show isn’t just about making people smile. France 2 distributed tissues before the screening to let people know that tears are normal. A couple who claims they haven’t seen their grandchildren and daughter for many years is an emotional moment. Although they believe they are calling them, the surprise is even greater. The curtain rises and the young woman who travelled from Noumea is left behind with her children. Their grandmother’s reaction is amazing.
The production prepares the pranks meticulously, just like the British version. Some are captured with a hidden camera beforehand and shown during the show. Others take place behind the scenes on D-Day. A young, passionate singer is caught up in the show. The young woman goes to the show believing that she is going for a massage, but instead she finds herself on stage.
Sequences that remind you of “Don’t forget your toothbrush” a Nagui program in the 90s when certain members of public were invited to take part in a test.
Some gags that are familiar from the British version of the entertainment are used in this episode, which is presented by Michael McIntyre. Each episode of “Big Show” is broadcast on BBC One. The backstage of the theater has been transformed so that people can go there and not know they are near an audience. This makes it a surprise when a door opens onto a stage. Over the French broadcasts, we will see if Jarry invents or stays true to the original program.
