Leipzig (dpa / sn) – Saxony’s Environment Minister Wolfram Günther (Greens) has criticized the Ministry of Finance in relation to the ongoing budget negotiations. “So far, the Ministry of Finance has not discussed any technical matters – but prescribes flat-rate budgets,” Günther told the “Leipziger Volkszeitung” (Friday edition). In particular, the environment must be a core task of the government and therefore also given greater financial priority.

The ministry is making it too easy for itself if it refuses money in a lump sum. This is an “apolitical view”, according to Günther. He cited the protection and reforestation of forests as an example. His ministry has registered 63 million euros in order to be able to tackle the “most serious problems”. “But we should only be granted 39 million euros.” Günther criticized the “denial of reality” in the Ministry of Finance.
