He was hiding in the attic. Upon seeing the police, he stood up and pointed a gun at them. It turned out to have been an unloaded alarm pistol. He had given the house occupants various valuables that he had in his bag. The defendant, aged 20, was sentenced to two-years in prison and a warrant for committal. He also received a permanent ban from French territory.
