It’s a misadventure that Le Parisien revealed and which is now a situation denounced today by Gerald Darmanin, Minister of Interior on Twitter.
A couple who had just signed the sale of their house at the notary in May could not move in as a family of four are living on their property.
Laurent and Elodie claim that they signed the contract to sell the house on May 19th and then went to the site the following evening to celebrate. They discover that their house has been squatted.
Although the gendarmes can be called immediately, they are unable to intervene as the family has been in place for over 48 hours.
To afford this house, we worked hard
Laurent laments, “We have worked tirelessly for three years to be able afford this house.”
Gerald Darmanin, Interior Minister, condemned the “unacceptable” situation. “We immediately request the prefect of Essonne for the prompt evacuation of illegal occupants under article 38 of the DALO Law.
A gendarmerie officer said that this administrative procedure is heavily conditioned by the filing a complaint of invasion of domicile. This “means that the penetration of the premises was done through trickery or malice”. The gendarme says that this is not the case and there is no crime.
