Very committed to environmental issues, actress Marion Cotillard expressed her opposition to the government, after the dissolution of the environmental movement the Uprisings of the Earth. Guillaume Canet’s companion expressed her absolute support for the association.

“What is happening in our country is extremely serious,” wrote the French star, Oscar winner for La Môme in 2008, on his Instagram account. “Those who warn of the eminently dangerous drift of our world and our humanity, the activists who demand government action commensurate with the urgency are today qualified as criminals or eco-terrorists”, she continues. .

“This government’s security drift, coupled with its failure to protect us from the consequences of climate change, is frightening. But these intimidations will not be able to silence us. Today, in our country, freedom is in danger,” she added. The Earth Uprisings collective was dissolved on Wednesday in the Council of Ministers, the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin invoking its “major role in the design, dissemination and legitimization of violent modes of operation”.

This decision, which Les Uprisings of the Earth intend to contest, provoked a series of condemnations on the left and among defenders of fundamental freedoms. Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, present in Paris on Wednesday, lent her support to the collective. Several cultural personalities have already expressed their support in recent months for the Earth Uprisings, such as actress Adèle Haenel, filmmaker and activist Cyril Dion or Nobel Prize for Literature Annie Ernaux.
