Dresden (dpa/sn) – The weekly corona incidence in Saxony was 132.0 on Thursday. This is an increase compared to the previous week (116.9), but the second lowest value in a nationwide comparison. The infection rate was only lower in Thuringia (82.3), as shown by figures from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). Nationwide, the incidence was 276.9 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within 7 days.
However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI – mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
The health authorities in Saxony recently reported 2186 new infections within one day and 5 deaths to the RKI. Since the outbreak of the corona pandemic in Saxony, more than 1.5 million infections and 15,557 deaths have been reported. The weekly incidence was highest in Dresden and Leipzig with values ??over 200.
