Weil am Rhein (dpa/lsw) – At the end of May, customs officials prevented watercolor paintings worth 5,700 euros from being smuggled. When entering Germany, a man initially stated that he had not bought anything in Switzerland, the police said on Thursday. The officials checked the car at the Weil am Rhein border crossing (Lörrach district) anyway. They found four watercolor paintings and the bill from a Zurich auction house in the trunk. Criminal tax proceedings have now been initiated against the 57-year-old traveller.
