On Wednesday June 8, rescuers from the High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon (PGHM) and a doctor from the Samu des Alpes-de-Haute-Provence went to the Stroppia pass, above the hamlet of Fouillouse in Saint-Paul-sur -Ubaye.
After a 24-year old man fell while hiking, they were alerted. His leg was bleeding from a hemorhagic injury. It was his friends who first stopped the bleeding. One of his friends passed the alert by going to a lodge due to the lack of a telephone network at the scene. The two soldiers and an emergency doctor rescued him from the helicopter of Digne-les-Bains’s air section.
