Hennef (dpa / lnw) – In a fire in a fire station in Hennef, three firefighters were injured and several vehicles were damaged. A passer-by reported the fire late Monday evening, as the fire brigade announced on Tuesday morning. When firefighters arrived, a fire engine was already engulfed in flames. The fire also spread to the attic. Around 80 emergency services first fought the fire, then opened the doors of the fire station and drove vehicles that were still roadworthy out of the hall.
A fire engine was destroyed, three others badly damaged. It was initially not known whether the damaged vehicles could be used in the future. Three firefighters contracted mild smoke inhalation and were treated at the scene. The operation was not over as of Tuesday morning.
