Rostock (dpa/mv) – The seven-day incidence of new corona infections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania also increased on Friday. The State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lagus) reported 219.5 proofs of infection per 100,000 inhabitants within a week after 215.9 the day before and 176.6 a week ago. The value is also climbing again nationwide: The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave it 261.3 on Friday morning after 221.4 on Thursday.
However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI – mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
Four more deaths related to coronavirus infection were recorded in the Northeast, bringing the total since the pandemic began to 2,239. The state office reported 488 new infections on Thursday. As on the previous day, there were ten patients in the intensive care units. The hospitalization incidence, i.e. the number of new corona patients admitted to hospitals per 100,000 inhabitants within a week, was given by the state office at 1.7.
