Bitterfeld-Wolfen (dpa/sa) – The festival season in Saxony-Anhalt was heralded on Friday with the Sputnik Spring Break festival on the Pouch peninsula on the Großer Goitzschesee. Around 25,000 visitors have been there since Wednesday, said a spokeswoman for Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR). Among other things, the broadcaster organizes the festival. The actual program started on Thursday with the first warm-up shows.

Some of the visitors showed up in costumes and brightly painted on Friday. The mostly young fans can camp right on the festival site. The festival features performances by reggae band Seeed, rapper Apache 207 and DJ Steve Aoki. The festival takes place without major restrictions in terms of Corona.

In the coming weeks, numerous large festivals will take place, especially in the excavator city “Ferropolis”. The organizers are expecting thousands of visitors after the two-year Corona break.
