During a search of an apartment in Saarbrücken, a 67-year-old man shoots at two police officers. The background is still unclear – the residents are asked to stay in their apartments.
Two police officers were injured during an operation in connection with an apartment search in Saarbrücken. A 67-year-old shot an officer, as the Saarland state police said. Another police officer was injured by flying glass fragments. The incident happened in the Klarenthal district of Saarbrücken.
Nothing was initially known about the severity of the police officer’s injury. He was being treated medically, it said. The background to the fact is still unclear.
The 67-year-old’s apartment was to be searched based on a decision by the Saarland administrative court. After the officials were shot, the 67-year-old barricaded himself. Police cordoned off the area and called on residents to stay indoors and stay away from windows. “Police are asking all residents to remain indoors and away from windows as the perpetrator fired a gun from an apartment window,” the statement said.
