Augsburg (dpa / lby) – Unknown people used explosives to destroy an ATM in an industrial area in Augsburg. Whether and how much money the perpetrators stole on Friday night is still unclear, the police said on Friday. According to initial estimates, the damage was around 120,000 euros. Investigators are now looking for witnesses.
It was only on Thursday that unknown persons in Hirschaid (Bamberg district) destroyed a machine. According to the police, a possible connection between the incidents is also the subject of the investigation.
The case in Augsburg is the tenth blast from an ATM this year in Bavaria. “In 2021 there were a total of 17 cases in Bavaria. So this year there are not necessarily more, but of course each one is too many,” said a police spokesman. “Particularly because the perpetrators are more likely to handle explosives than gas this year, it’s not just about large amounts of damage. It’s also just very dangerous.” So far, no one has been injured in the cases in Bavaria.
