The Roch’Coop was founded in August 2021 in Puilboreau in the La Rochelle Agglomeration. This is because ten Brooklyn residents believed that better food could be obtained at a lower cost and without the need for intermediaries. They founded the Park Slope Food Coop which is the first cooperative supermarket in the world.
The documentary “Food Coop”, by Tom Boothe, that reveals how these shareholders succeeded like no one else in their bet will be shown on Sunday, June 12th at 5 p.m. in the hall de La Comedie at 18 rue Rambaud in La Rochelle.
The Roch’Coop shop in Puilboreau is open Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:15 pm. Saturdays are 10 a.m.-1 p.m.; and 3:45 p.m.-3:45 p.m. Members regularly shop there and work there for three hours each month.
