Bernburg (dpa/sa) – Two tractor units burned out almost simultaneously in Bernburg early Monday morning. As the police announced, the first fire occurred on Grönaer Landstraße on a freely accessible company site. When firefighters arrived, the truck was fully engulfed in flames. The fire destroyed the tractor and the cargo it was carrying. Shortly thereafter, the rescue workers moved to Dr.-John-Rittmeister-Strasse. Another semitrailer from the same trucking company caught fire there.
According to the police, the fire brigade prevented the flames from spreading to the trailer. There were no injuries in either fire. The damage to the vehicles is around 300,000 euros. The police began investigating the cause of the fire and are currently not ruling out an intentional act.
